Rumor has it that Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt is about to join “The Mission”.  According to Deadline.com “the 47-year-old is said to be targeted to star in the film, based on the six-year operation to free 15 hostages from the Colombian jungle”, furthermore they report that David O Russell is also in talks to direct the flick.

The motion picture will tell the story of the six-year effort to rescue Ingrid Betancourt, a Colombian presidential candidate, as well as three American military contractors and several Colombian military and police officers from their FARC captors. On July 2, 2008 a Colombian helicopter landed in the jungle and rescued all 15 hostages without firing a shot.

While Pitt has yet to make any public announcements, sources say that his agent and the movie producers are talking.

The script of the movie will be provided by Peter Landesman, as mentioned earlier David O Russell, director of the satirical Gulf War movie “Three Kings”, as well as “The Fighter” and “I Heart Huckabees”, is set to direct the film, while Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Scott Z. Burns will produce the movie.

Currently, Pitt is filming the zombie flick World War Z in Malta. Last week they shot scenes in which several zombies were “killed” after breaking quarantine. The movie has also caused a recent controversy in its next location, Glasgow, for stereotyping in a recent casting call for extras.
