Recently Hugh Jackman signed on to star in Les Miserables for director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) leaving many speculating the movie may delay Wolverine 2 even further, but it looks like that won’t be the case.
According to Jackman, Wolverine 2 will shoot first. In a recent interview he told a Toronto reporter, “We shoot [‘Wolverine 2’] in October, so it will probably come out a year after that,” he said. “That’s usually around the timeline.”
And regarding Les Miserables, the actor confirmed, “I’m going to ‘Les Miserables,’ the movie version of it, next year.”
James Mangold was selected by Hugh Jackman and Twentieth Century Fox to helm the sequel after Darren Aronofsky dropped out of the project a few months ago.
The search for a new director and the tsunami in Japan (where the film is to be shot, at least in part) seemed to put the movie’s 2012 release in jeopardy, but Jackman says things are still on schedule.
It’s still unknown whether the plan remains to shoot The Wolverine on location in Japan, where Christopher McQuarrie’s script takes place.
Jackman has been keeping busy in the meantime, he recently wrapped a two week run of Hugh Jackman in Concert in Toronto.
Some things Hugh revealed in his Comic Con appearance: Wolverine starts filming Oct. 15 and will be filmed in Japan and in studio “somewhere in North America”, and Les Miserables starts filming in February.
