Liam Hemsworth is headed to Ann Arbor, MI for ‘AWOL’

Back in April we reported that AWOL was approved for Michigan’s Film Incentives and now it looks like filming is set to start in just a few days.

According to AnnArbor.com, the movie is tentatively set to begin filming from July 11-August 12 in and around Ann Arbor. Much of the shoot will likely take place on the University of Michigan campus since the movie is set on campus during the Vietnam War.

Several sources are also confirming that Liam Hemsworth, who is currently filming The Hunger Games in North Carolina, has signed on for a lead role in the movie, along with Austin Stowell (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Aimee Teegarden (Scream 4), Chris Lowell (Up in the Air), and Max Adler (Glee).

Reportedly, Stowell stars as a young soldier in Vietnam who gets dumped by his girlfriend, played by Teegarden. Hemsworth plays his best friend who joins him in going AWOL. Together, they return to the U.S. to win her back.
