Made in NY Awards honor Matt Damon & John Leguizamo

Back on June 6, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg hosted the 6th Annual Made in NY Awards at Gracie Mansion.

Each year, individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to New York City’s entertainment industry are honored at the event. During the ceremony Bloomberg said, “There is no entertainment like the entertainment made in New York.”

This year, the late director Sidney Lumet was presented with the first-ever Made in NY Mayor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement. Other 2011 Made in NY honorees included Matt Damon, Foursquare, John Leguizamo, founder of the Urbanworld Film Festival & CEO of MoviePass Stacy Spikes, commercial production company Smuggler, and NBC chairman Lauren Zalaznick.

When presented with the award Damon told the audience, “Our dream was not only to work in the movie business but to someday get a movie that was shot in New York.”

Tom Murro also attended the event, along with all of the Real Housewives of New York, and he sent us a few photos he took with some of the celebs who were on hand. The most amusing of which is a photo he took with Damon and Jill Zarin, we would love to know what Matt thought of the Real Housewives! According to Tom, they were all “as sweet as can be.” You can check out a few of Tom’s photos below and a couple of videos from the event above.
