New Photos & Video: Pittsburgh becomes Gotham for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

The streets of Pittsburgh have been transformed into Gotham for The Dark Knight Rises.

Gotham news crews, taxis, and police cars have been spotted on the streets of Pittsburgh as filming is in full swing. According to the Post Gazette, director Christopher Nolan was seen on the set at 41st Street between Butler and Foster streets yesterday where they transformed row house No. 170 into the home of a Gotham City judge, played by Brett Cullen.

In one scene, Gary Oldman’s police Commissioner Jim Gordon ran up the house’s steps to alert the judge to dirty dealings and increasing violence in Gotham. In another scene, Miranda Tate, played by Marion Cotillard, came to the judge’s house with Commissioner Gordon and Detective Jim Blake, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

One of our readers, Niki, checked out the set last night and warned us that the guards surrounding the sets are nice, “but don’t cross the barricades or they get cranky.” She also noticed a trailer which had a sign that said “Blake” on it, which is JGL’s character as mentioned in the Post Gazette article.

Another one of our reader, @thefreshpicks, sent us the videos below of yesterday’s set before the cameras started rolling, along with video of the Gotham vehicles and tumblers that have rolled into town!

This morning, Niki was back on the set near the Carnegie Museum, where they are filming a riot scene involving Gotham’s prisoners (with Christian Bale!). You can see more photos here and here too!

If you want to share your set experiences with other fans, check out our Dark Knight Rises Open Thread!

And thanks again to @NikiMarieR, @thefreshpicks & of course, the Post Gazette for the info, photos, and videos!
