Construction begins on the first ‘Lone Ranger’ set in New Mexico

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are still in the thick of filming their current movie, Dark Shadows, in the U.K., but crews are already building sets for their next film, The Lone Ranger, in New Mexico.

According to our source, the production company has staked out and started building a set on private land in Grant County, New Mexico. The company is planning to use two different undisclosed locations in the county.

In addition to the New Mexico location, they will also film a portion of the movie in Texas.

The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer in the title role, Depp as his sidekick Tonto, and Tom Wilkinson as a railroad tycoon. Bonham Carter also recently signed on as brothel madam, along with Barry Pepper who will play a military officer, and Dwight Yoakam who has signed on as a gang leader.

The movie is set to begin filming in October. If you have any scoop about The Lone Ranger, let us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
