Last night Jeff Bridges told Jay Leno about the various Lebowski Fests that take place across the country each year in honor of the movie, The Big Lebowski in which he plated “The Dude”. Jeff talked about one of the fests he attended where he and his band played to a “sea of dudes”, which he called “very surreal.”
He also discussed the recent reunion of the Big Lebowski cast in NYC where he was joined by John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, and the film’s music archivist T Bone Burnett, at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The event was also attended by hundreds of fans, many of whom dressed their favorite Lebowski character and talked a lot about acid flashbacks!
During a Q & A session, the cast theorized about where their characters would be now. Goodman and Buscemi talked about the possibility that Buscemi’s character, Donny, may not actually die in the film but instead is just a figment of Walter’s imagination. Goodman also guessed that his character, Walter, would now be raising pigeons. “He tried to join the French Foreign Legion, but they made him work on Shabbos … now he raises pigeons,” he explained.
You can check out a couple more photos and a video of highlights from the Q & A below:
As for Lebowski Fests, the next one will take place on September 23 & 24 in Los Angeles and will include a screening of the movie, special guests, contests, and a bowling party. You can purchase tickets at LebowskiFest.com.
