Even though filming on Steven Spielberg’s latest project, Lincoln, just started in Richmond, VA, the director already has his eye on future projects, and possibly on filming in Michigan.
According to State Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville, the state is currently in talks with Spielberg’s production company to bring an upcoming film to Michigan.
Richardville said they do not want an encore of what happened with Ironman 3, which chose to shoot in North Carolina next year, instead of Michigan because of the state’s film incentives.
“They learned from that and now are out negotiating on a Steven Spielberg movie, and I can’t really get into a whole lot of detail now,” said Richardville. “You could be hearing something very, very exciting over the next couple of weeks.”
It’s not clear exactly what film Richardville is referring to. Spielberg’s next movie, Robopocalypse, which is set in futuristic Oklahoma, will be shot in Canada.
It looks like we’ll just have to stay tuned on this one.
