Steve Carell, Nicolas Cage, and Jack Black are expected to begin filming ‘Frank or Francis’ early next year

Kevin Kline, Jack Black, Steve Carell, and Nicolas Cage are expected to land in Pittsburgh, PA early next year to begin filming the new Charlie Kaufman musical, Frank or Francis.

Though an official announcement has yet to be made by the Pittsburgh Film Office, the Business Times is reporting, “New York-based production company Likely Story Inc. has been awarded a $4 million tax credit to shoot Frank or Francis in Allegheny County, according to public investment records with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, which oversees the state’s film tax credit program.”

According to Variety, Frank or Francis is a Hollywood satire set to music which “chronicles the back-and-forth between a movie director and an online blogger who delights in berating his cinematic talent.”

Black will play Francis, a charmless yet extremely intelligent Internet troll who reviews movies online, Carell will play Frank, a successful, somewhat pretentious filmmaker who is cheating on his wife.

Cage is set to portray The Emcee, an actor famous for commercial, high-concept films including his most recent hit, “Fat Dad” and Kline will play Richard Waller, the brother of the director of a fictional film titled “Hiroshima,” and Richard’s Head, “an animatronic head that, through the use of advanced screenwriting techniques, helps Jonathan develop a completely inoffensive product that will have the broadest possible appeal and zero artistic integrity.”

Stay tuned for more filming updates and casting call info later this year.
