Find out where this year’s Golden Globe Nominated Movies & TV Shows were filmed

This morning the the nominees in the television and film categories for the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced by Sofia Vergara, Gerard Butler, Rashida Jones and Woody Harrelson at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, just one day after the SAG Awards nominees were announced.

Usually, when we look back at where the best TV show and movie nominees were filmed, L.A. and New York dominate the lists. But this year the nominated shows and movies were filmed all over the world.

OK, so that isn’t completely true for the Best Comedy Series category since all of the shows in this category, New Girl, Modern Family, Enlightened, Glee and Episodes, are filmed in Los Angeles.

But, the Best Drama Series nominees are all filmed in different locations. American Horror Story is filmed in Los Angeles, you can see find out where the famous Murder House is located here. Boardwalk Empire is set in Atlantic City, but is primarily filmed in Brooklyn. Boss is filmed in Chciago, one of the few TV series to be entirely shot in the Windy City. Homeland was also filmed in an unusual location, Charlotte, NC. Though Charlotte is no stranger to films, this is one of the first TV shows to be shot in the North Carolina city. And, of course, Game of Thrones is filmed in the most exotic locales like Morocco, Iceland, and Northern Ireland.

In the movie categories, the Best Comedy or Musical Motion Picture nominees’ filming locations take us around the world from Los Angeles (The Artist and Bridesmaids) to Vancouver (50/50) to London (My Week With Marilyn) and Paris (Midnight In Paris).

We were excited to see The Ides of March make the cut for Best Motion Picture Drama because it was also one of the most searched for movies on our site this year while it was filming in Ohio and Michigan. Another George Clooney movie, The Descendants also made the category. This filmed-in-Hawaii flick is already on our short list of the most travel-inspiring movies of 2011. Moneyball (filmed in L.A., the Bay Area, and Boston), Hugo (known as The Invention of Hugo Cabret while it was filming on soundstages in London and Paris), War Horse (shot in the U.K.) and The Help (which was filmed in Mississippi) round out the list of Best Drama nominees.
