The Star Trek franchise is once again filming is Los Angeles.
Reportedly, the sequel to 2009’s Star Trek has started filming on a sound stage at Sony Studios, where crews have rebuilt a set for the bridge of the Enterprise spaceship. Filming is also expected to place on the Paramount lot and on location at various locations around the city.
Locations for the previous film included the Budweiser Brewery, Dodger Stadium, Long Beach City Hall, the Marine Corps Air Station in Tustin and the Vasquez Rocks park in Agua Dulce.
The new movie is expected to take at least 13 weeks to shot and will once again star Chris Pine (as Capt. James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Simon Pegg (Scotty), John Cho (Hikaru Sulu) and Karl Urban (Bones). Alice Eve, Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Weller have also joined the cast.
It was previously reported that J.J. Abrams was interested in shooting some scenes in Hawaii, but those will ultimately be shot in Southern California.
Star Trek 2 will hit theaters on May 17, 2013.
