M. Night Shyamalan will begin soon begin filming the Will Smith/Jaden Smith sci-fi flick After Earth and today he gave the world an update on the shoot, via Twitter.
The director tweeted the two photos above from the film’s production offices, along with the following captions:
“This is Dean, an amazing illustrator. He’s illustrating an early scene from the film. (I’ve picked tantalizingly vague pictures haven’t I?)”
and
“These are paintings and photos I’ve collected over the year. They are up on the inspiration wall in the art department of After Earth.”
The story is set in a future in which humans no longer live on Earth after it becomes inhospitable. Will Smith is playing a hero, while Jaden plays his son, a failure as a warrior. When the two crash-land on Earth, it’s up to Jaden’s character to save his dad.
After Earth is expected to begin filming in March in Pennsylvania (we’ve heard they’ve been scouting locations near Philadelphia) and Utah.
The movie has a release date of June 2013. Are you looking forward to it?
