Last night Madonna premiered her film W.E. at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City where a few famous friends, including Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, Ewan McGregor, and Julia Stiles, were on hand to show their support.
On the Red Carpet Madonna told MTV she hoped the film would be nominated for an Oscar. “Well, the Oscars, the nominations are coming out tomorrow, and fingers crossed, I hope my movie gets nominated for something,” Madonna told MTV on the red carpet. “I would be really grateful if it did, but if it doesn’t, I got the Super Bowl — keep on going,” she added.
W.E. did receive one nomination this morning, for Costume Designer Arianne Philips.
One of our contributors, Denise, not only spotted Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld as they arrived at the premiere, but she also scored tickets inside! She told us, “Last night my friend & I actually got into the premiere Madonna’s movie, W.E.! We had just gone there to hang around outside to try to see her and after they let all the ticket holders in, we went to will call and just asked if they had any extra tickets. At first the woman was a little apprehensive about giving us any, but my friend pleaded with her and she gave in! We made it in just in time to hear Madonna speak before the movie started. She thanked everyone from the movie from the stars to the people behind the scenes. She got a little choked up during her speech and she said she’s been working her ass off preparing for the Super Bowl and she tends to cry when she’s very tired. Right before it started we were able to sneak up and grab some empty seats five rows behind Madonna! It was so awesome to be there!”
This is the second time in as many weeks that we’ve had a report from a reader who was able to score tickets to a movie premiere- it goes to show, it never hurts to ask!
