Ryan Gosling was spotted at the Hua Hin International Film Festival in Thailand last week with director Nicolas Winding Refn to support their action film, Drive, which is screening at the event.
But, the film fest isn’t the only reason Ryan is in Thailand, he is also prepping to shoot Only God Forgives with Refn in Bangkok.
Gosling recently told THR, “[Thailand is] incredible… Ever since I came here I’ve been dreaming about making a film in Bangkok. I’m happy to be here.”
“I love it… Bangkok is one of my favorite cities — a mixture of everything that’s crazy and beautiful. Thai people make great Thai movies… our being here is part of that mix,” Refn agreed.
Ryan is spending most of his time overseas preparing for the movie’s Muay Thai boxing scenes. “It’s sparring basically. They don’t really use weights. Nicolas is doing it as well,” Gosling said.
Hopefully Only God Forgives will give a better impression of the Thai city than The Hangover 2.
Shooting on Only God Forgives is expected to start soon with a theatrical release slated for later this year.
