According to TribLive, Matt Damon’s next movie, Promised Land, is expected to choose Pittsburgh as its filming location.
Promised Land, starring and written in part by Matt Damon, is looking to start filming soon in Pittsburgh. Gus Van Sant is slated to direct the small-budget film, which Deadline.com reported will cost about $15 million. Included as a producer is Chris Moore. The three worked together on the 1997 picture, Good Will Hunting.
Promised Land, which was going to be Damon’s directorial debut before he turned the project over to Van Sant, will also star John Krasinski. In Promised Land, Damon will play a sales executive who arrives in a small town only to have his whole life called into question. According to Deadline, filming is expected to start in April.
Pittsburgh is positioning itself to become one of the country’s top locations for filming with the recent announcement that a new studio facility offering 300,000 square feet is opening near the 31st Street Bridge along the Allegheny River. The studio will be the only “motion-capture” studio outside Hollywood.
As soon as a filming location is confirmed for the film we will set up an open thread where fans can share filming location tips and pics, and we’ll also keep you about about casting calls and crew jobs. If you have nay scoop about Promised Land, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
