‘The Five Year Engagement’ will open the Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival announced yesterday that the Jason Segel/Emily Blunt comedy The Five-Year Engagement will kick off the fest on April 18.

The movie follows a couple who seem to have it all until they run into a number of bumps in the road leading to their wedding. The movie was primarily shot in Ann Arbor, MI last summer.

Five Year’s director, Nicholas Stoller, said in a statement, “To be honest, this is all just a ploy to stand on top of a building with Robert De Niro and look out over New York City at dusk.”

This year’s Tribeca Film Festival runs through April 29 in downtown Manhattan.

Advanced tickets go on sale Monday for American Express card holders. For more information, visit TribecaFilm.com.
