Today, the first trailer for On The Road, based on Jack Kerouac’s epic novel, was released on the movie’s Facebook page.
The movie, which stars Sam Riley, Garret Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, and Kirsten Dunst, was primarily shot in Montreal in the summer of 2010. They also shot a few scenes in San Francisco before wrapping production.
You can access the trailer via Facebook, or via YouTube above.
I’d love to know what fellow fans of the book think. Many others have tried to make this movie (including Brad Pitt some years ago) so it will surely be scrutinized, by both fans of the book, and movie insiders. Let me know your thoughts on the trailer in a comment below!
I only need to ask “why?” Yes…it is an amazing story…yes, it defined it’s generation. What makes this relevant now? Will young people even get the message? I read this book a number of years ago and there was nothing in that trailer I recognized. I fear for those who will look at this movie as Cliff’s Notes for On the Road
