The HBO movie, Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight which is shooting at 23rd St and 5th Ave in New Your City through next week, will be filming scenes in Albany and Schenectady, NY on Wednesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 11, and they are currently looking for extras for the shoot.
The movie will focus on Ali’s objections to the Vietnam War and the ensuing ‘fight’ with the US government. After Ali was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, he refused to step forwarded at the armed services induction and was arrested. Since he had converted to Islam two years earlier, he argued the conflict was against his religious beliefs. Later, a series of appeals led him to the Supreme Court. Danny Glover, Barry Levinson, Pablo Schreiber, Ed Begley Jr., Bob Balaban and Kathleen Chalfant have also joined the cast.
MAGF stars Christopher Plummer as Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan II and Frank Langella as Chief Justice Warren Burger. Benjamin Walker will also co-star as Kevin Kennedy, a Supreme Court clerk who supported Ali and wrote several briefs that helped to maintain the boxer’s status as a conscientious objector of the war.
