New Mexico Filming News: ‘The Lone Ranger’ moves to Monument Valley, ‘Breaking Bad’ star disses ABQ, and ‘The Rambler’ begins filming in Roswell

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul took to Twitter to vent last week after he was robbed in Albuquerque. The tweets, which have since been deleted, state that he’d “been robbed twice” since he arrived back in in New Mexico to shoot season 5 of Breaking Bad.

“First time was my car and this time around it was my house,” he said. “… Can’t wait to be back in L.A. It’s so much safer there.” He later added, “I love ABQ and the people. Just felt violated and super sad to lose personal items from my home.”

The Rambler, starring Dermot Mulroney and Lindsay Pulsipher, is gearing up to begin filming in Roswell. Mulroney will play “The Rambler”, a man who “is released from prison and discovers a mystery as he attempts a dangerous journey through treacherous back roads and small towns en route to reconnecting with his long lost brother.”

They are currently casting extras for the project too. If interested in applying, send an email with your name, age, email address, Headshot or photograph of yourself, and telephone number where you can reached to ramblercasting@live.com.

The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp, has wrapped production in the Albuquerque, NM studio where they were filming last month and has began filming in the Monument Valley and the Canyon de Chelly areas of Navajo Nation, a 27,000-square-mile territory that sprawls across Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. On Thursday, the actor welcomed visitors from the Navajo Nation who brought gifts, including a thick wool blanket that came in handy on the cold, windy afternoon.

According to the film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, the movie’s current location is filming near one of John Ford’s favorite filming locations. “The iconic John Ford’s Point in Monument Valley. Just a short walk from our base camp,” Bruckheimer Tweeted today along with the photo above. You can see a map to the location in Monument Valley, Arizona here.
