‘Iron Man 3’ shoot at Port of Wilmington on hold after Robert Downey Jr. is injured

Yesterday, while filming at Port of Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C., Robert Downey Jr. injured his ankle during a stunt scene, sidelining production until he is on the mend.

“Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, N.C., while performing a stunt,” Marvel said in a statement. “There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.”

The movie was scheduled to continue filming at the Port of Wilmington through September 7, but that date will likely be pushed back depending on when filming resumes at the port.

Iron Man 3 hits theaters on May 3, 2013.
