‘Catching Fire’: First look at the stage for the Reaping being built in Atlanta

Thanks to one of our Twitter followers, @Jeff_Holmes, we have a first look at the stage for the Reaping that will be used in the upcoming Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire.

The set is being built at The Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta but according to Jeff the exact filming date for at the Goat Farm shoot has not yet been determined.

In other filming news, it has been confirmed they will film scenes at “The Beach” in Clayton County, GA’s International Park.

… “Catching Fire,” the second “Hunger Games” film, will shoot at a man-made water park known as “The Beach” because it was built as the beach volleyball venue for the 1996 Olympics. The park is being transformed into a post-apocalyptic setting for the movie, which is based on a book about children forced to fight to the death for food. Other parts of the movie will be shot in Atlanta and Hawaii.

UPDATE: According to a local news report, “The Beach” scenes will start shooting on October 31. And, according to our friends at The Hob, crew are turning the swimming pool area into “a post-apocalyptic scene”.

If you have any scoop about where Catching Fire is filming around Atlanta this fall, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com or discuss the movie with other fans in our Catching Fire Open Thread!
