On Dec. 2 Adam Shankman will direct Trevor Live, benefiting the life-saving, life-affirming work of The Trevor Project, which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) teens and young adults. The event will also honor Katy Perry with the Trevor Hero Award.

(Oct. 9, 2012) – On Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, The Trevor Project will honor international superstar Katy Perry with the Trevor Hero Award at “Trevor Live,” presented by Audi of America and Wells Fargo (Hollywood Palladium, 6215 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles). Celebrated director, producer and choreographer Adam Shankman returns as Special Guest Director of this high-profile annual event benefiting the life-saving, life-affirming work of The Trevor Project, which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) teens and young adults.

The Trevor Hero Award honors Katy Perry for empowering youth and increasing visibility and understanding of the LGBTQ community. As an ally for the LGBTQ community, Perry has supported equality and the freedom to marry. She inspires LGBTQ youth to find their spark through her video “Firework.” Perry strives to let youth know they have value, and by being themselves, they can be anything.
