New Casting Calls posted for Ryan Gosling’s ‘How To Catch A Monster’, filming in Detroit next year

As we reported back in August, Ryan Gosling is currently prepping for his directorial debut, How To Catch A Monster, which is expected to begin filming in Detroit next year.

In addition to location scouting, it looks like Ryan, who spent Thanksgiving in NYC, has started casting for the project, too.

The website howtocatchamonstercasting.com has recently posted casting calls for two of the movie’s lead characters, Bones and Frankie. It also describes the movie as a combination of “fantasy noir, horror and suspense in a modern day fairytale” and confirms it will shoot in Detroit in May.

Check out the casting calls below:

Bones

(Lead) Male (17- 19 in appearance; caucasian or multi-ethnic)
MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER.
An introspective loner with an active imagination. His challenging home life has toughened him, but he still clings to childhood fantasies. Balancing melancholy intensity with an innocent sense of wonder, he is driven by a strong desire to face his fears. Soulful, offbeat and quietly charismatic. Character should be caucasian or multi-ethnic; his mother is white and his father could any ethnicity.

Frankie

Male (3-6, caucasian or multi-ethnic)
A “feral” like boy who is constantly getting into trouble for trying to escape his school and house. Quiet and withdrawn but with an expressive face and deeply active internal life. Almost reminiscent of a silent film character. SUBMIT REEL ONLY AT THIS TIME. NO SELF TAPED AUDITION REQUIRED

  1. I unfortunately do not fit the descriptions for the above characters. I am interested, however, in being an extra on the set for this movie. I am the best 40ish woman you’ll find in the Detroit area!

  2. if you are looking for a white female age 9 I am your girl. My brother who is 10 would also fit your description above to play Frankie. We are from North Dakota and would love a chance to be in your film.

    Please consider us.

    Thanks Jenna
