‘Catching Fire’ filming underway in Hawaii

As we reported, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire began filming in Hawaii yesterday and photos from the shoot already have the internet buzzing.

On Monday, Nov. 26, Jennifer Lawrence was spotted filming Quarter Quell scenes on a beach in Oahu, along with co-stars Sam Claflin, Lynn Cohen, and Josh Hutcherson.

We’ve heard the beach scenes will continue through December 1st (reportedly near Kaneohe). The cast and crew are expected to film at other locations around the island through the end of December.

If you’re in Hawaii be on the look out for those GGX signs and be sure to let us know if you spot them via email at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

UPDATE: On Nov. 27 GGX signs were spotted in the Kahuku area. This story also states filming took place on the North Shore on Monday.

  1. Looks like they have moved on closer to Haleiwa. Saw the signs in Kahuku (more specifically Kawela Bay) on Saturday but the crew were just breaking it up by then. Spotted some of the same signs this morning close to Papailoa, if you’re not familiar with the north shore it’s the beach between Laniakea and Puaena Point.

  2. Today, 6th Graders from my school returned from their field trip at Waimea Valley with news that they had spotted Jennifer Lawrence on set!

  3. Hi Kelli, last week I saw those “basecamp” and “crew parking” signs by Kaneohe but according to previous posts they’re only now getting for film there ao you might want to check it out. Just follow Kam Hwy from Kaneohe towards Kualoa and keep a look out for the signs on your left. I actually spotted one first and the parking a mile or two later. If there’s no sign of them anywhere my next bet would be Kualoa (personally I have a hunch about Kualoa’s Secret Island!). Happy hunting and please let us know if you find anything!!

  4. Thanks Gabbie! So we drove past an area near the Heeia Kea Pier and saw a parking lot with the sign ‘basecamp’ on it. They had some guards and we also saw a police car and trailers as well. We are going to try to go back and walk past it to get a better look. Will keep you updated!

  6. Yes, they are still filming in Kaneohe. We didn’t get to see much but there were a lot of trucks/vans and a lot of equipment moving. They were probably filming deeper in so no actors spotted, unfortunately. We did hear though that they are moving to Kualoa’s private beach tomorrow.

      • Well, I went to Koolau today and I asked the employees in the gift shop/visitors cemter and everyone denied they were there and they were very tight lipped on if/when the cast would be there. I didn’t go in or didn’t bother purchasing any tours, etc. ANY insight on where the set might be tomorrow on Friday would be greatly appreciated!!!

  7. I was in Oahu the past weekend. They are filming at the Manoa Falls! Parts of the trail I was on was blocked off because GGX productions booked the location for filming 😉
