Speculation seems to be growing that, assuming the series is renewed, Glee will film their entire fifth season in New York City.
Earlier this month Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly told reporters they’re keeping their options open for season five, including the possibility of having the show take place entirely in NYC, rather than continuing to jump between Ohio and NYC.
“I have to talk to Ryan and see where he’s at right now,” Kevin said. “I don’t know. I wonder — could it and should it naturally move there? But we have to talk about it.”
But New Yorkers, don’t get your hopes up just yet. Currently the show is shot in L.A. (even most of the NYC storyline is shot there) with only a few days spent on location in NYC every few months. So, even if they move the storyline, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will move the entire production to NYC.
If Glee does move to NYC it won’t be the first show to make the move. Back in 2008 the ABC series Ugly Betty made the controversial move from L.A. to NYC to take advantage of the state’s film incentive.
