‘Sherlock’ series three begins filming on Monday

Benedict Cumberbatch hasn’t had much down-time this year. He just wrapped filming The Fifth Estate last week and already he’s back to work on Sherlock.

Yesterday, BBC One tweeted a photo of the show’s stars Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman at their first read through for series 3.

“Sherlock read-through over, plenty of surprises in store for series three,” the account said with the photo above.

Filming on the first two episodes of series 3 begins on Monday, Mar. 18. After that they will take a break to accommodate Cumberbatch and Freeman’s schedules then return to film one more episode a few weeks later.

Sherlock is a modern update of Sherlock Holmes set, and filmed, in present-day London.

  1. I loved the 1st two series. but…

There is only 3 episodes in a series and we have to wait for such a long time for the next series.

Yes, we realize they are all also doing other things and what makes the show possible is the “when we all can” approach. but seriously, how long have we waited? Surely the popularity of the show counts for something, and more episodes, more frequently would go down really well..

Its like telling an alcoholic he cant have a drink for 48 hours – it’ll feel like a year..
