OLV’s Sundance Tips and Tricks

Last year we were lucky enough to go to the Sundance Film Festival and put together this list of tips for our newsletter. We thought we would rerun this article for those in Park City this year (btw, we are totally jealous)!

Sundance Survival Guide

Here’s how to get the most out of Park City’s premiere film festival:

PLAN AHEAD

Seasoned Sundance attendees know that as soon as it ends, it is time to start planning for next year. Hotels and films fill up quickly. You can get email alerts at sundance.org letting you know when films are announced or tickets go on sale so you can remain one step ahead of the masses.

STAY WARM

The January temperatures in northern Utah can dip below zero. Hand warmers, long johns, hats, and gloves will be your best friends at the festival whether you are walking down Main Street or waiting for a shuttle. You may not blend in with the L.A. fashionistas, but at least you won’t get frostbite.

FOLLOW THE PAPARAZZI

If you want to be guaranteed you will see celebrities, just look for the paparazzi. They will know where the biggest stars are and will be waiting outside for them. Get your camera out and you can blend right in.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK

Industry types aren’t the only ones networking at Sundance. Don’t be afraid to ask fellow fans how they got that swag, a table in the best restaurant, or Bono’s autograph. Fellow fans may be your best tipsters.

GET OUT OF PARK CITY

It is hard to resist spending the entire day in a theater with so many great films playing but don’t forget how beautiful your surroundings are. Hit the slopes right in Park City or the Sundance Resort. If skiing or snowboarding isn’t your thing, head out to Antelope Island in Salt Lake for the view and abundant wildlife.
