When we last wrote about James Franco’s next directorial effort, The Garden of Last Days, they were looking for extras for filming in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area from July 10 to August 6. According to several reports, James Franco pulled out last week from the film due to a disagreement with the film’s financier, Millennium, on the choice of crew. Now the production has been cancelled.
Franco will still be plenty busy, though:
- he’s shooting Every Thing Will Be Fine this summer in Montreal, Canada;
- he’s overseeing the three features based on his story collection Palo Alto (which has a crowd-funding campaign on indiegogo); and
- he recently announced that he’s working to get the William Faulkner novel, The Sound and the Fury, up and running to start filming in the fall. He’s hoping to cast Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm, as well as his brother Dave Franco and Danny McBride.
