This week the hit CBS series Elementary began filming, but don’t expect to see them shooting on the streets of New York, not yet anyway.
The show’s stars, Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, are currently filming the season two premiere episode, Step Nine, in London. The season opener will also feature Rhys Ifans as Holmes’ brother Mycroft.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have this opportunity to see Sherlock’s old stomping grounds and take a closer look at a life that, until now, we’ve only been able to glimpse through the lens of his recovery,” said series creator Robert Dohert. “By meeting old friends and revisiting prior cases, Watson will gain even more insight into Holmes. She’ll have to keep up with a Sherlock who is both more comfortable in his surroundings and even bolder in testing the limits of those around him.”
Sherlock Holmes fans will also be excited to hear the episode will feature a look at 221B Baker Street and guest star Sean Pertwee as Inspector Lestrade.
Yesterday, the cast and crew of Elementary was spotted filming in London’s Trafalgar Square. But, New York fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see the world’s most famous sleuth back on the streets of NYC. Filming permits have already been spotted around Hudson and Leroy and Morton St and 7th Ave in Manhattan for Thursday, July 18 and in Washington Square Park for Friday, July 19.
Elementary season 2 will debut on CBS Thursday, September 26 at 10:00 p.m.
