The scene on the beach last week at the Hilton Hawaiian Village looked like a disaster zone: injured were surrounded by debris from the hotel, helicopters and boats, calling out for help from first responders. Fortunately for everyone on Waikiki Beach, this was just the latest location for the filming of Godzilla.
Actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jake Cunanan were seen on set amongst the 225 extras (local residents who answered a June casting call, 30 members of the Hawaii National Guard, and 17 Hawaii firefighters) shooting scenes that take place in the wake of Godzilla’s attack. Scenes from the reboot were also filming at a helipad in Honolulu, Hawaii, and previously in Vancouver, Canada.
The movie is scheduled to be released May 2014.
