TIFF kicks off tonight with the premiere of ‘Fifth Estate’ and a ‘Big Chill’ reunion

Tonight The Toronto International Film Festival opens with The Fifth Estate, the movie based on the true-life story of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who stars as Assange, Stanley Tucci and Daniel Bruhl, will walk the red carpet at the Roy Thomson Hall tonight. Just before the screening starts at 8:00 p.m., TIFF will also pay tribute to the late Roger Ebert. His widow Chaz Ebert will be presented with a commemorative plaque during the ceremony.

Also on tonight’s TIFF roster is the 30th anniversary screening of The Big Chill at 6:00 p.m. at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Stars Lawrence Kasdan, Glenn Close and Meg Tilly will be in attendance for a Q & A after the movie.
