Richard Gere is headed to Philadelphia for ‘Franny’

Richard Gere is set to begin filming his upcoming movie, Franny, in Philadelphia next month.

In the film Gere will play “a hedonistic philanthropist who ingratiates himself into the lives of a newlywed couple in order to re-create the life he once had.”

The film will be the first feature film filmed in Philly in some time.

“We are very excited that Franny will be shooting in Philadelphia and the region. . . . I know that everyone in the region will be very excited to have the very talented and much-beloved actor here filming a movie,” Sharon Pinkenson, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, said. “And let’s not forget that our local crew members, actors and production-support companies are truly excited to welcome the first new movie of the fiscal year. It’s been a long dry spell, but I’m confident that business is heating up.”

Currently, Heery Casting is looking for a stand-in for Gere in the Philadelphia area. If you think you fit the bill, you can send your resume to frannycasting@gmail.com.

  1. My nephew is on Crew for the filming of Franny. I have and will also be a fan of Richard Gere. I suggested that if time permitted, he ask Richard if he wanted to join us at a family “football game/housewarming” get together on Sunday [10/13], or just a small home-cooked meal. If this is not a possibility, where will the filming be this week and other times Richard Gere is filming? I would love to meet him. If ever the need for someone [woman / w/MS] is needed as extra or otherwise, please let me know. I am Ambassador of the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the MS Society. I would enjoy having Richard Gere meet my MS Family, and possibly get involved somehow with our fundraising goals. Thank you.
