Tourists hoping to visit Doune Castle, in Perthshire, Scotland this fall are out of luck. The castle will be closed through Nov. 22 for the filming of Outlander, a new series set to air on Starz next year.

Outlander “follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in to irreconcilable lives.”

Doune Castle, which dates back to the late 1300s when it was built by Scotland’s “Uncrowned King” the first Duke of Albany, will be completely closed to the public for the duration of the shoot.

The castle is sure to garner plenty of attention after the series begins to air as it will play a central role in the show’s plot.
