Thanks to one of our readers, Tony, we’ve got a few photos of the set crews have been building for Mockingjay at their Griffin, GA set. Filming is expected to take place at the mill site, located off of Experiment Street, this week.
As you can see in the photos below they have built a stage on the property and have been putting up exterior walls around it.
If you check out the site this week or spot them filming, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
UPDATE: As of this morning (11/4) crews were still building sets and no filming had begun yet. Sounds like they won’t be ready until the end of the week or early next week.

It’s so great seeing some use coming from that place. I ride by there about 10 -20 times a week doing my everyday stuff. I seen when they very first started making the set. It’s really neat being able to see that and knowing people everywhere will be seeing my little hometown in that scene. Between the hunger games and the walking dead being filmed in griffin recently I feel a little famous myself haha. Hope it turns out great!
My hometown, also, and my husband’s, Bennie. I was really excited when “Driving Miss Daisy” was filmed there…and “Fried Green Tomatoes” close by in Juliette, Ga.
Only saw one “Hunger Games” and it was really good.
My Mother worked at the one they are doing the filming at, hemming the best towels ever there.
The set is built exactly on the spot where my wife and I met in 1969. In December we will celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. It is nice to know the location will be preserved in a way on film. Several generations of my family worked at Dundee.
what a great story David, thanks for sharing!

The old tower you see in the pictures is the oldest part of the old original building. It was built in 1888, the year Kincaid Manufacturing was founded. Our late company president, Mr. Mac Cheatham, always saw to it that the tower was preserved and well taken care of. After all it was the symbol of our company. After his death and the company was sold, sadly the old tower was neglected. I wish there was some way we could save it. It is 125 years old and a part of our history.
thanks for the insight, interesting to hear some history of these locations.
It is awesome to know that the old mill still has some life in her. I was born and raised on Elm Street near the end of the mill, but still right across the street from the warehouse. I used to ride my bike up and down beside the fence and watch the workers and trucks go in and out. Busy place it was. I have never seen The Hunger Games, I must look it up, I hear it is a really good show.
