On Friday, Feb. 7 a private funeral for family and close friends will be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in NYC for actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead Sunday morning of a presumed drug overdose.
For the past few days Hoffman’s family, friends, and fans have mourned the actor outside of his apartment at
35 Bethune St in the West Village, outside of his New York theater company, and at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Madison Avenue, where a private wake was held this evening.
Amy Adams, Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, Justin Theroux, Michelle Williams, and Ellen Burstyn have been among the mourners.
Hoffman still had some work to be completed for his role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, which he had been filming in Atlanta, but filmmakers plan to use CGI for the remaining scenes.
Below are a few photos from the scene at his apartment on Sunday night where fans and reporters were already gathering.
For those who wish to contribute to a cause that was close to the actor’s heart, a Crowdwise page benefiting the Labyrinth Theater Company has been set up in the actor’s honor.
