Nina Tassler, chairman of CBS Entertainment, and Kelly Kahl, senior executive vice president of CBS Primetime, conducted a conference call with reporters on Wednesday (May 14), where it was announced the NCIS spinoff – NCIS: New Orleans – will have TV’s most powerful scripted drama lead-in when it joins CBS’ lineup in the fall. The series will be produced on location in New Orleans.

Scott Bakula , Lucas Black, CCH Pounder and Zoe McLellan are the spinoff’s primary cast, introduced during NCIS episodes that aired March 25 and April 1st.

Location filming for those episodes took place in New Orleans, but many interiors were shot in the Los Angeles area. Set in Washington, D.C., NCIS is produced primarily in Valencia, California.

“It will be shot in New Orleans,” Tassler said of the spinoff. “You’ve got a lot of great cases, a lot of great stories, and the signature NCIS humor. When you look at Scott Bakula, that’s in his DNA. This is an actor who can give you heart, humor, action.  “It’s got all the signature elements of ‘NCIS,’ and really gives us a chance to build on a huge global brand.”

NCIS: New Orleans will air at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, following NCIS.

Filming in New Orleans will begin in July.

  1. Love this show and its actors. Have enjoyed Lucas Black since he was a kid playing on Gothic. Here he gets to show what a fine performer he really is. The rest are great also. All together they make for a good show that CBS should be proud of. Some times its hard for a spinoff to succeed, mostly because it is being compared to the original. NCISNO can hold its own right up there with the first one. I hope that CBS will keep this one on for a long time.

  2. I think everything should be done in New Orleans Don’t get me wrong I’m not going you stop watching it it’s a wonderful show it needs new episodes
