The next Netflix series Marco Polo will be headed to Kazakhstan and Italy, where they will shoot on location. Once filming finishes the production will move to a Malaysian studio. Shooting is expected to begin in August this year.
The series will focus on Marco Polo, the famous explorer, and a battle taking place in the 13th century China. Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy, will take on the role of Marco Polo.
So far other people to sign up for the project include writer John Fusco (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II), director Dan Minahan (Game of Thrones, True Blood), and producer Harvey Weinstein (Gangs of New York). Other cast members include Benedict Wong (Prometheus), Zhu Zhu (Cloud Atlas), Tom Wu (Skyfall), Remy Hii (Treading Water) and Rick Yune (Olympus Has Fallen).

Marco Polo will be released in late 2014 on Netflix.
