During an interview at the Cannes Film Festival this week Robert Pattinson revealed he will be shooting Olivier Assayas’s Idol’s Eye this fall.
Pattinson described the film as “a gangster movie. It’s a true story about … some thieves who rob a porn store without realizing it’s a mafia front in the late 70s.” He added, “The script is amazing.”
Assayas is also in Cannes this week – for Clouds of Sils Maria, starring Pattinson’s ex/Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart – and he too revealed a few details about Idol’s Eyes, including the film’s location.
He told the The Hollywood Reporter:
“My next film will be in the U.S. We are shooting in Chicago, and it’s a genre movie based on a real story called Idol’s Eye, the name of a famous diamond. If everything goes according to plan, it should be shooting by late fall.”
The Chicago Tribune reached out to the Chicago Film Office to confirm the news but they declined.
Though nothing is finalized, based on these interviews it seems safe to assume Robert Pattinson will be headed to Chicago later this year.
