Steven Feinberg, executive director of the Rhode Island Film & Television Office, confirmed reports that Woody Allen will film a movie in the state this summer.
The director’s new film will star Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix. Allen is expected to write and direct. The untitled project is described as a “contemporary film with academics, graduate students, middle-class, and working-class characters.”
“That is all I can share at this point per the request of the producer,” Feinberg said.
Boston-based casting agency C.P. Casting is holding auditions for actors and extras this week by appointment only.
There is no word on the plot or title of the film, or when it will hit theaters. Filming will begin in July.
