Our list of April’s Best Bets in Film Events was published yesterday but a few of them aren’t just best bets, they are must see.
The best event of the month has to be PaleyFest 09, taking place at the Paley Center for Media in Hollywood, CA. The fest is a celebration of current TV and includes panels, screenings, and parties honoring some of today’s most popular shows. Among the panels scheduled are 90210 (with special guest Tori Spelling), Desperate Housewives, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, True Blood, Dr, Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog, Dollhouse, Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, Pushing Daisies, Battlestar Gallactica, The Hills, Big Love, Fringe (including my beloved Josh Jackson), and Swingtown. The festival starts April 10th, general public tickets are $60.
The Film Society’s 36th Gala Tribute to Honor Tom Hanks will take place at Tully Hall in Lincoln Center in NYC on April 27th. Nora Ephron, Sally Field, Ron Howard, Mike Nichols, Julia Roberts, John Patrick Shanley, and Robert Zemeckis are all scheduled to be on hand to honor Hanks. Ticket prices begin at $350 and run as high as $50,000 for a credit in the event program.
