The dark comedy “Arms and the Dudes”, which stars Jonah Hill (‘The Wolf of Wall Street’) and Miles Teller (‘Divergent’) will begin filming in Miami at the end of April, and will continue for several weeks. Teller will play David Packouz, a licensed massage therapist in Miami, who joins Efraim Diveroli (played by Hill) in the international arms-dealing business.

Directed by Todd Phillips, “Arms and the Dudes” is the true story of two unlikely men who land a $300 million contract by the Pentagon to become weapon suppliers for U.S. allies in Afghanistan. They soon find themselves in danger abroad and in trouble back home because they were completely out of their depth. The movie is based off a 2011 Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson titled, “The Stoner Arms Dealers: How Two American Kids Became Big-Time Weapons Traders.”

Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LeBeouf were rumored to play the lead roles but due to scheduling conflicts, both actors backed out of the production.

The film is the first under the new production Phillips formed with his “Hangover” star Bradley Cooper. Cooper will produce along with Mark Gordon, Scott Budnick, and Bryan Zuriff from a script by Jason Smilovic. Cuban-born Ana De Armas has also signed on to star alongside Teller as his girlfriend.
