According to local reports, Glenridge Hall in Sandy Springs, GA is scheduled to be torn down later this year.
The mansion has been used in several movies and TV shows, but is best known as the home of the Salvatore Brothers in The Vampire Diaries.
Reportedly, a home building company, Ashton Woods, announced plans to purchase the property earlier this year. Ashton Woods also plans to sell 12 acres of that property to Mercedes-Benz, who will build its U.S. headquarters on the site.
The director of the Glenridge Hall family office, Mike Rabalais, said that Ashton Woods had “nothing to do with” the decision to demolish the house. A demolition permit from the city of Sandy Springs was obtained earlier this month, but Rabalais said work won’t get underway until later this year.
Glenridge, which was recently added to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservations’ 2015 Places of Peril list, was built by Thomas K. Glenn in 1929 on 400 acres of farmland. The Tudor Revival mansion was designed by Samuel Inman Cooper and took more than a year to complete.
Glenridge Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
TVD fans have already started rallying around the property. You can help the cause by following Save the Salvatore House on Facebook.
