The X-Files isn’t just returning to TV, the series is also returning to its roots in Vancouver.
When the sci-fi series, starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, began in 1993 it was filmed in Vancouver where it remained for five seasons until Duchovny pushed for a move to Los Angeles, according to Globe & Mail.
Vancouver’s forests lured series creator Chris Carter and his team from Los Angeles in 1993, and they stayed until David Duchovny called for a move to L.A., to spend more time with his then-wife, actress Téa Leoni. Memorably, Mr. Duchovny also caused a stir in Vancouver by complaining about the weather – “400 inches of rain a day.”
Though the exact reason for the show’s return to Vancouver is unknown, it probably has more to do with B.C.’s filming incentives than the scenery.
The X-Files reboot, featuring original cast members Duchovny and Anderson, is expected to begin filming in early June.
