Along with most other prime time shows, The Vampire Diaries is back in production this week on their seventh season.
According to a number of new casting calls, TVD will be filming in Covington, GA – the town’s square doubles as Mystic Falls on the show – on Tuesday, 7/14.
Of course, this season there will be one major difference – Nina Dobrev won’t be there. The show’s executive producer, Julie Plec, addressed her absence during the Vampire Diaries panel at Comic-Con last weekend.
“Of course it’s bittersweet,” Plec said. “We miss Nina; she’s been with us for six years. But Elena said to Damon, ‘Please live your life and be who you are. So for Damon, the question is, ‘Who am I without this girl by my side?’ The line is going to get a little crooked. We’ll get to see a lot of naughty Damon trying not to be naughty.” Ian Somerhalder also chimed in, saying, “She’s just taking a little nap. It’s just an evolution of the story. This is Mystic Falls without Elena Gilbert.”
