Mark Wahlberg plans special meet & greet with service members in New Orleans

About two weeks ago Mark Wahlberg began filming Deepwater Horizon, based on the April 20, 2010 explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, in New Orleans.

According to Lionsgate, Deep Water Horizon “chronicles the courage of those who worked on the Deepwater Horizon and the extreme moments of bravery and survival in the face of what would become one of the biggest manmade disasters in world history.”

In addition to Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Dylan O’Brien, Gina Rodriguez and Kate Hudson star.

While on a break from filming this weekend, Mark and a few of his co-stars are holding a special meet and greet just for service members and their families at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans.

The event will take place on the base Saturday, Aug.1 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.

Wahlberg has been a longtime supporter of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. This year he was named the recipient of the James Gandolfini Award which honors Mr. Gandolfini’s invaluable work by recognizing outstanding character in service to warriors and their families.
