‘LBJ’ filming Kennedy assassination scene in New Orleans

Just a few days after the James Franco mini-series 11/22/63 recreated John F. Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas, the Rob Reiner-directed presidential biopic LBJ is staging the same fateful day in New Orleans.

The movie has been looking for extras for this week to appear in a crowd scene that involves the tragic day Kennedy died. “We will be shooting some scenes that will be re-creating one of the most dramatic moments in U.S. history, involving JFK,” Adam Hochfeld of Central Casting Louisiana said. “That’s about as much as I’m allowed to reveal, but I think it narrows it down.”

Filming will continue tomorrow and Friday, 10/16, in New Orleans. Those interested in being extras can email their contact information and a current photo to Central Casting at LBJ@centralcasting.com.

LBJ stars Woody Harrelson as Johnson, who ascended to the presidency after the assassination of Kennedy. Reiner’s film will center on “the political upheaval that Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson confronted when he was thrust into the presidency at the hands of an assassin’s bullet in November, 1963.”

Richard Jenkins also stars as Sen. Richard Russell, Bill Pullman as Sen. Ralph Yarborough, Jeffrey Donovan as President John F. Kennedy, Kim Allen as Jacqueline Kennedy, Michael Stahl-David as Robert Kennedy, and Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lady Bird Johnson.
