U2 honors Paris Attacks Victims, here’s how you can help the victims, too

Following yesterday’s horrific terrorist attacks in Paris, U2 canceled this weekend’s concerts at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris. Tonight’s show was scheduled to air on HBO.

“Our first thoughts at this point are with the Eagles of Death Metal fans,” Bono said on RTÉ2fm radio Saturday morning. “If you think about it, the majority of victims last night are music fans.”

“This is the first direct hit on music that we’ve had in this so-called ‘War on Terror’ or whatever it’s called,” continued the singer. “It’s very upsetting. These are our people. This could be me at a show. You at a show, in that venue. It’s a very recognizable situation for you and for me and the coldblooded aspect of this slaughter is deeply disturbing and that’s what I can’t get out of my head.”

“We didn’t call it off,” Bono said of Saturday’s concert. “It was canceled, honest, and I understand perfectly why…It’s up to the French authorities and the city to decide when we can go back.”

To show their support to the victims, all four members of U2 left flowers at one of the memorials that has been created on the streets of Paris.

If you’d like to do something to show your support, but you’re not sure where to turn, there are a few charitable organizations on the ground in Paris now that could use donations.

The French Red Cross has just announced it has hundreds of volunteers on the ground working with the victims and their families. You can make a monetary donation to support their efforts at redcross.org.

Local French organizations, the Secours Catholique-Caritas France and the French Secours Populaire are also providing support during this emergency. You can visit their websites, don.secours-catholique.org and secourspopulaire.fr to make a donation directly.

  1. U2 is a sell out. The Paris “attack” is a hoax. Investigate it yourself. Save your money and goodwill, their greed knows no bounds.
