Bloodline’s fate might be in the hands of the Florida legislature

This week a letter has been circulating on Facebook asking Floridians, especially those who are involved in the production of – or fans of – the Netflix series Bloodline to rally behind the state’s film industry.

The letter explains that the production is only able to film in Florida due to the state’s tax incentives and if those incentives aren’t renewed in the 2016 legislative session “it is doubtful that Bloodline will have a Season 3.”

Check out the full letter below:

Dear Bloodliners, Bloodline has been an incredible opportunity for the cast and crew. We have loved living and working in The Keys and are grateful for the support we have received from the businesses and property owners who have allowed us to shoot on their properties as well as the residents who have put up with the occasional inconvenience that comes with location shooting. As you may have read, production studios are making decisions as to where to shoot their film and television projects based on the availability of state funded production incentives. Bloodline has been able to shoot in The Keys for 2 seasons due to the availability of the last of the incentive monies made available by the Florida legislature. If new money is not made available in the 2016 legislative session that begins in January it is doubtful that Bloodline will have a Season 3. So, if you value the revenue that Bloodline has brought to your business, the rental income you have earned from the production company, the expenditures made by cast and crew living in The Keys, have visited The Keys because of your interest in Bloodline or just enjoy the buzz that production brings to your community and would like to see that continue, I have a request: Please write a note to briefly say how Bloodline has impacted you and/or your bottom line. The note doesn’t have to be long or complicated. Simply say who you are, the name of your business (if applicable) and how Bloodline has benefited you and what that has meant for you and your family. And, of course, you would like the state to fund an Entertainment Industry Tax Credit /Incentive Program, which will allow us to continue to shoot in The Keys. Hopefully for years to come! I will then forward your notes to the legislators and others in state government who need to see them. Please address the note: To Whom it May Concern, and send it to an email address that we have set up for this effort: friendsofbloodline@gmail.com Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel will participate in our effort. Thank you very much. Kathryn Waters, Script Supervisor BLOODLINE friendsofbloodline@gmail.com
