For the past few years, The Walking Dead Escape has given fans a taste of what an official Walking Dead attraction might be like, but the pop-up mazes have only taken place during San Diego Comic-Con and other special events. This summer, that will all change when The Walking Dead finally gets its own, permanent attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Chris Hardwick broke the news during The Talking Dead tonight, along with a preview video of the new attraction. AMC quickly followed up the news with a statement on their website that promises fans will be able to “walk in the survivors’ footsteps for a fully immersive journey, using both animatronics and live performers — the next best thing to actually being on The Walking Dead.”
All of the landscapes, special effects, props, staging, costumes and makeup for the new addition at Universal were all created with executive producer and director Greg Nicotero.
Stay tuned for details about when the attraction will open and how to get tickets soon!
