The Boston Marathon bombing movie, Patriots Day, needs hundreds of extras for a scene that will be filming in the Boston area on April 25, 26 and 27. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman and J.K. Simmons.

Although the casting company would only say the scene they are shooting is a “major” one, the Boston Herald is reporting they will likely be filming what happened on the streets of Watertown, MA after Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured and crowds of people cheered on police vehicles as the  police shouted “God bless America” through their loudspeakers.

This does seem possible, but we’re also wondering if they could also be capturing the actual bombing which, as far as we know, hasn’t been filmed yet. Last month, crews began recreating the Boylston Street finish line at the Boston Marathon on a SouthField runway in Weymouth, MA. The bombing will be reenacted on runway at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station.

Whatever scene they are filming,  the extras  won’t be paid but they will be fed, entered into a raffle to win prizes like celeb autographs and big-screen TV, and entertained by comedian Dante from Last Comic Standing. “He’ll explain what’s going on on the set, why things that happen, happen and prepare everyone for any special effects that come up during the day,” Beinamovie.com’s Cash Oshman said. “It’s all about keeping people happy.”
